Manage Database Systems is a comprehensive unit of competence that equips learners with essential skills to administer, maintain, and optimize database systems in organizational environments. This unit covers database design and normalization, SQL for data manipulation and retrieval, database security and access control, backup and recovery procedures, performance tuning, and maintenance best practices. Learners will gain hands-on experience with popular Database Management Systems (DBMS) such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Microsoft SQL Server, developing proficiency in creating schemas, writing complex queries, monitoring performance, and troubleshooting issues. Upon completion, learners will be capable of designing efficient database structures, managing multi-user environments, implementing security measures, and supporting organizational data management needs across various IT and business contexts.
